It helps to change your thinking patterns by exposing you to repeating positive messages that play upon, and influence your conscious and subconscious mind. The principal behind it is extremely simple, yet it can actually be very effective in helping to drive home whatever message you wish to reinforce.
Natural We naturally use repeating affirmations in our every day lives both for the positive, but more often, the negative.
For example, if running in a race and you are finding it hard to reach the finish line, you may start saying to yourself "I can do this!", over and over. That is naturally using P.A.T. to influence the way you think.
Unfortunately, more often than not, our lives are constantly filled with repeating negative statements and sentences, these can help to shape our general attitude and outlook on life, and influence our overall state of health. And this is the important bit: There is strong scientific evidence to support the theory that our own thought processes, patterns and attitudes have a direct influence on our overall general health and wellbeing. This is where P.A.T. can really help.
By exposing yourself to specific affirmative statements (spoken in a certain way so that your mind can not distort or misinterpret them), over time, you will find your subconscious mind starts to takes charge and begin to influence your general attitudes and outlook. You will find the more frequent thoughts that pass through your mind are those from the theme of whatever affirmation statements you have been listening to. If, for example, you have been listening to positive statements about your health, then it is likely you will start to feel better about your health. This is turn could actually cause your body to heal more efficiently, and generally be less prone to sickness.
P.A.T. and IBS This is a useful self-help tool for IBS sufferers, particularly for those who's symptoms are aggravated by anxiety and stress.
