Meet the team - Rick
My name is Rick, and I have been
living with Irritable Bowel Syndrome
since I was a teenager, although I only learned its name about 12 years ago when I was ‘officially’ diagnosed. I appreciate from first-hand experience just how much disruption and anxiety IBS does bring to millions of lives all around the world each day, and I’m hoping that my contribution to this website will help others to understand that they are not alone, and that there is hope. As a direct result of the control IBS has over my life, I am now forced to work from home and am pretty much unemployable. In my particular case, the IBS issues lean more towards
the psychological side
of things. It has left me with a psychological “scarring” that causes me to panic if I find myself not within easy reach of a bathroom. This can become a self-fulfilling prophecy, and has rendered me pretty-much house-bound. My only saving grace is
my van
that has a bathroom on-board and still allows me the dignity of being able to travel.
Many times I find myself in the situation of having to explain to people
what IBS is,
and I fully appreciate how embarrassing that can be. My hope is that this website will be able to arm us all with good practical “know-how” that will help take some of the pain and awkwardness away. This is just a brief hello, but if you are interested,
you can read my main story here.
Be Happy d;o) Rick PS. Be sure to check out the profiles of the other IBS-Life.com's team members

PPS. Also, if you get a chance, be sure to check out my main hobby website: Container-Gardening-For-Food.com where I am striving to grow my own food in a small garden - all part of the quest to eat the right things and avoid IBS!
