It's in the water

by Anonymous

After months of suffering with what a doctor thought was a digestive functioning disease (IBS), I did find the cure. We just happened to be visiting family for the summer. We went to my parent's home in an urban area, and my stomach issues went through the roof. Then we went to my in-laws home which is in the country where they have a well. My IBS cleared up. At that time, I had not yet had tests, and we had no idea what was wrong. We were thinking Celiac disease. I went through the problem for a few more months, and we were once again visiting family. We went to a cabin where the water was iffy, so we drank all purified water. My symptoms once again disappeared. That is when I was sure it was the water. Since then, I have only drank spring or filtered water, and I rarely have a problem. I also use a shower filter which also helps. The only other trigger I may see but never to the awful degree it was, is when hormones fluctuate. My cure was in the water.

chlorinated water

My GI symptoms have been variously diagnosed as IBS, GERD, celiac, gastritis, food intolerances, etc., but elimination diets of every type imaginable did not help. I started using filtered water recently and the change has been nothing short of a miracle! No meds and no significant problems for almost 4 months now....as opposed to mild to moderate to severe symptoms several times a month or even weekly. This has helped more than any kind of meds or diets tried for the past 18 years!! It's certainly worth a try for anyone with GI problmes.

Question about the water
by: Anonymous

Hello.
I am wondering if your drinking of purified water (that helped with your IBS) also includes the water for cooking, e.g. boiling vegetables, soups etc.? Or did you still use tap water for cooking?
I have just started drinking mineral water (boil in the kettle, move to a stainless thermal flask and drink the hot mineral water throughout the day), but am not sure if I should also try to use the mineral water for cooking.
Thank you for your comment!
