For a little while, I was so despairing of the bladder problems, that the bowel problems seemed far less painful and worrying -- until ten days ago. I thought initially it was a stomach bug, but it went on, with cramps brought on by eating or drinking anything, even water, and having to immediately, and I do mean immediately, get to a bathroom. Often, I would have to go straight back to the bathroom seconds after leaving it. Since I was advised by the Urologist and my GP to wash every time I evacuated my bowels, (due to e-coli bacteria causing UTI's) this resulted in me spending a great deal of every day and night in the bathroom, and using the shower to clean myself. This can be a side-effect of Ditropan, which I am given for hyperactive bladder, as the Urologist doubled the dose. I actually went back to the old dose for a couple of days, but my bladder really noticed the difference. I did not think it was possible for IBS to get any worse, but couple it with a bladder problem and life is proscribed in a terrible way. After reading about people (mostly, but not exclusively women) with bladder problems, and that it can lead to despair -- I didn't have to read that, in fact, I already know.
