    <title>Feb 3, The Beast Is Back.</title>
    <link>http://www.ibs-life.com/irritable-bowel-syndrome-blog.html#The-Beast-Is-Back.</link>
<description>It's very strange how having something wrong with you other than IBS, can make the IBS seem less severe, but so it seemed to me since August, when I developed recurrent UTI's which resulted in ultrasound scans and a cystoscopy in late December. For a little while, I was so despairing of the bladder problems, that the bowel problems seemed far less painful and worrying -- until ten days ago.

I thought initially it was a stomach bug, but it went on, with cramps brought on by eating or drinking anything, even water, and having to immediately, and I do mean immediately, get to a bathroom. Often, I would have to go straight back to the bathroom seconds after leaving it. Since I was advised by the Urologist and my GP to wash every time I evacuated my bowels, (due to e-coli bacteria causing UTI's) this resulted in me spending a great deal of every day and night in the bathroom, and using the shower to clean myself.

This can be a side-effect of Ditropan, which I am given for hyperactive bladder, as the Urologist doubled the dose. I actually went back to the old dose for a couple of days, but my bladder really noticed the difference.
I did not think it was possible for IBS to get any worse, but couple it with a bladder problem and life is proscribed in a terrible way. After reading about people (mostly, but not exclusively women) with bladder problems, and that it can lead to despair -- I didn't have to read that, in fact, I already know.

    <title>Jan 10, Welcome to 2012</title>
    <link>http://www.ibs-life.com/irritable-bowel-syndrome-blog.html#Welcome-to-2012</link>
    <description>Hi every-one,
We hope you had a good Christmas and New Year. Among the IBS-Life team there has been some downtime with colds and such , therefore it has slowed us down. But we are still here, still trying to cope, and still looking for cures.

In the coming year, I will be continuing with the 4,000 milligrams of Fish Oil capsules daily, (this is four capsules) which do indeed seem to be beneficial, as their action is said to be soothing both to areas such as joints and also internal organs such as the gut and intestines. I will also be looking at the link between IBS and Irritable Bladder, since I know have both, and neither ultrasound nor a cystoscopy have shown any real reason. The Urologist told me that many people who suffer Irritable Bowel Syndrome also come to suffer from Irritable Bladder and more frequent Urinary Tract infections.

Thank-you for continuing to visit our site, and know that we are always here if you wish to post on the site, or email us

The IBS-Life.com team
