Constant pain.
by: Siân@IBS-Life

I am so sorry. This constant pain factor was explained when I read 'Sophie's Story' (I reviewed it here)

'The interactions between our brain, central nervous systems and GI tracts are just not functioning properly. We have colons that react to stimuli that do not affect normal colons, and our reactions are much more severe.'

It is well worth ordering the book, because Sophie coped with this terrible pain for years until she found a dietary answer. She takes a fiber supplement, and magnesium tablets and found they worked, as like you, she suffered IBS with constipation.

I found that with IBS-D, codeine, Pepto Bismol and a hot water bottle all at the same time, helped about 50% of the pain. I have this year begun to take 4 tablets of fish oil supplements per day, because it has been shown they lubricate and ease the gut as well as joints and cartilage. While I still get uncontrollable diarrhea, the pain seems to be a bit more manageable -- that is the codeine seems to help rather than scraping 20% off the pain. (Then the codeine makes me really sleepy, so half the time I feel zombified, but I can't bear the pain)

Any of the above are worth trying for you, I think, and hope you find some ease.
