Probably most people know that these problems may flare up after a shock or fright; an interview, a close-shave in a car, a violent argument or fear for some-one. It is not uncommon for extreme emotions to cause stomach ache and/or diarrhea. It may be less well-known that constant stress can lead to long-term bowel issues such as IBS. It is certainly stress that causes my own IBS as I believe I have now eliminated the foods that adversely affected me.
The causes of bowel troubles are varied and should not be self-diagnosed. If you are diagnosed with IBS, you may, like me, have suffered years of stomach cramps which were not gynaecological in origin, nausea and with bouts of diarrhea or constipation. Unfortunately, if IBS is the cause of your bowel troubles, there is as yet no complete cure for it, although you may be prescribed certain medications to help alleviate it.
