IBS Living, Issue #03 --, Is this the Holy Grail answer to IBS anxiety?
August 30, 2009
Hello,

Greetings from the IBS-Life.com team - your friendly fellow IBS sufferers who happen to run a website all about Irritable Bowel Syndrome!

Firstly, we would like to apologise for the lack of newsletter during the last couple of months. It's been a bit hectic with each of us doing various things that took us away from our IBS-Life website duties.

It's now sunny August, and all three of us are back in the driving seat, ready to get back into writing articles of interest for our fellow IBS sufferers and friends.

Right then, on with this month’s e-magazine......

Could this be the Holy Grail answer to IBS anxiety?

Rick is certainly excited about this one!

In this Article, he explains how listening to guided meditation audio recordings regularly, over a period of months has virtually cured his IBS anxiety, and noticeably reduced his IBS symptoms.

He explains why he is now totally convinced that this practice could be the Holy Grail answer to dealing with IBS anxiety effectively and conclusively.

A few months ago, Kev wrote an article talking about IBS and how we were dabbling with meditation to see if it could help to ease the symptoms. The original article was inspired when we came across a study suggesting that 80% of IBS anxiety sufferers who follow a regular meditation routine saw a marked improvement in their IBS symptoms.

Eager to put this theory to the test, Rick began listening to short guided meditations on a regular basis.

However, he had absolutely no idea just how much of a positive impact this practice was going to have on his IBS over the long term.

IBS and Life in New Zealand - An article by James
James from Auckland tells of what life is like living down under with IBS.

We are always eager to hear your own story of how IBS has affected your life. We are also keen to hear of any ways or coping methods you may have discovered that help you in every-day living with IBS.

You can use the 'Personal story submission form' at the bottom of the stories page, for stories.

Or, if you have an IBS tip, use the ‘tips submission form' on the IBS Tips and Ideas for Everyday Living page.

Allowing us to publish your tips and stories on the website, helps us to provide practical advice and reassuring words to fellow IBS sufferers.
It lets others know that they are not alone in their suffering, and that there are many practical things they can do to help themselves cope with this often frustrating condition.

Sian discusses coping with Long-term IBS symptoms

Many people with IBS symptoms have been recommended or prescribed certain medications, drugs, and changes in diet etc, and yet despite all this, they are still suffering.

Sian touches on what happens when you are diagnosed with IBS and realize that so far, there is no cure, only ways of coping.

IBS Life has received many emails from people who say that nothing they have tried has helped them.

Sian has tried many treatments over the years and mentions some of these in this article. Each person responds differently to every medication and some may help them more than others.

For anyone suffering with stress or anxiety-related IBS, or for suffers who's IBS causes them to experience anxiety, then we really can not stress enough just how effective meditation can be in helping to reduce or even eliminate the IBS anxiety altogether (see Rick's new article about it here) .

The IBS-Life.com team is currently working on a series of new meditation-related articles, including some exclusive audio and video, all designed to help sufferers of IBS - directly from the website. We hope to be uploading them in the very near future.

In the spirit of this new series, we have a great new free book of the month called "Meditation for everyone".

This short little e-book will give you a down-to-earth overview of meditation, and will help to blow away any myths or misconceptions that people may have about it.

New Podcasts on the way

By popular demand, we will commence the recording of some new IBS podcasts shortly.

Podcasts are like radio chat shows, and to date we have made four 12 to 20 minute long high quality episodes that cover everything from treatments and medication, to working and travelling with IBS.

We are keen to hear from people about what they think of our current podcasts, and what topics they would like to see discussed in future episodes.

If you haven't already heard them, you can download them in MP3 format, or listen directly from the website here

Well that's about it for another newsletter.

Thanks for reading, we hope you have found it useful, and we are happy to hear from you should you have any ideas for content in future issues, or wish to see specific things happening on the website.

See you in two months!

Sian, Rick and Kev (the IBS-life.com team)
