The IBS Audio Program 100 Review, by Rick.

This IBS audio program 100 review is based on my findings and personal experience with the program.
As you may, or may not have known, over the past few months I have been away from my IBS-Life.com website duties while trying out the program, which is essentially an audio CD hypnotherapy course made specifically for IBS sufferers. Whilst on the 100 day course, I was advised by the makers of the IBS audio program 100 to try to avoid any activities that will cause me to ponder or dwell on IBS, as it could reduce the over-all effectiveness of the course. So obviously, running a website all about IBS was not a good thing to be doing at the same time.

Firstly, if you don't know what the IBS audio program 100 is, it is essentaially a series of hypnotherapy audio recordings that you listen to, preferably through headphones, in the comfort of your own home, over a period of 100 days. There is an information page all about the course here.
So, here I am a few months later, back working with the website, and ready to let you know exactly how I got on with the IBS audio program 100 and what I honestly think of it.

As I'm not a fan of "waffle", I'll get straight to the point, and give you my conclusions to the questions that I'm pretty sure you want answered....

So, my conclusions.....

Did It work?
Yes! - to a noticeable degree

Are you now cured of IBS?
No - but my IBS anxiety symptoms reduced by about 25-30%

Was it difficult to do?
No - The audio recordings were excellent, and I went into a deep state of relaxation each and every time without fail. Mike's voice is very relaxing, and easy to listen to.
Engaging with the course is very easy - you don't need to do anything except lay down, relax, and listen (preferably through headphones).
The only difficulty I had was sticking with the routine throughout the 100 days - making myself available for a 20 -30 minute session at roughly the same time each day was quite difficult for me to maintain over the time period - but that was mainly down to my constantly changing routine.

What were the sessions like?
Strangely enough, I can't answer that in much detail. Pretty much every time, I fell asleep during the sessions - which is perfectly OK to do. All I remember is the start of the audio recordings where Mike gently talks you down into a wonderfully relaxed state, and before you know it, the next thing you remember is him telling you to wake up and open your eyes!
When you wake up from a session, you feel wonderfully relaxed and calm, like you have had a really deep sleep or a good meditation session.

Is it worth the money?
I would have to say yes. In practical terms, the cost of one or two sessions with a professional hypnotherapist will easily equal the cost of the complete IBS audio program 100 . An ongoing course of hypnotherapy sessions will cost considerably more.
Combine this with the fact that Mike Mahoney is highly qualified, and specialises in IBS, his skills are unlikely to be surpassed by any regular 'general' hypnotherapist.
In emotional terms, I am less anxious about IBS than I was before doing the course - and that, you can't put a price on.

Would you recommend it to others?
Now that I've tried it, and experienced it for myself, I am happy to recommend this product to my fellow IBS sufferers.

Is there anything you didn't like about it?
No serious dislikes as such, but there is one thing that I felt would be worth addressing.

My main observation is that, compared to some of the amazing modern guided meditation audio recordings I'm listen to these days, these IBS hypnotherapy recordings came across as feeling quite dated and tired, seeming somewhat like a relic from the 80's. Admittedly they did the job of inducing a deep state of relaxation, but they didn't really inspire me to look forward to the next session. Having to listen to the same recording for multiple conscutive sessions did feel like a bit of a chore at times.I appreciate the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy, but these recordings could be so much better with a facelift.

Note
Now I should point out here, Mike Mahoney and his team have advised me that in order to get the maximum benefit from the IBS audio program 100, some people may need to run through the one hundred day course more than once, possibly even several times - I agree, and feel that I would probably benefit further from a second shot at it - something I intend to do just as soon as my schedule will allow.

Since writing this article, I have since virtually cured my IBS anxiety, although it was not done through re-listening to the IBS audio 100 program - click here to see my latest article.

Overall conclusion

Having tried hypnotherapy in the past with an actual hypnotherapist, and not getting any results even after many sessions, I have to admit to being sceptical of this product before I tried it. However the IBS audio program 100 provided a completely different, and far more engaging experience than I had anticipated. Perhaps it was the environment? being hypnotised in the comfort and security of your own home is very different to being hypnotised in the chair at your local hypnotherapy practice- where relaxing and feeling at ease can be an issue - as it was for me.

Although this hasn't cured me of IBS, and I still feel I may want to run through the course a second time to try to get some more out of it, I have to say that I was very surprised at the effect it has had on me so far.

In all honesty, I wasn't expecting much to happen, and for the first month or so, nothing much did, or so I thought. It was only after about half-way through the 100 days that I suddenly noticed a slightly reduced level of anxiety.

Before doing the course, the mere suggestion of my getting onto public transport and travelling a long distance, would have caused me to feel very anxious and churned up inside, and would have usually had me heading for the nearest bathroom soon afterwards.
Now, since taking the course, such anxiety-inducing statements and situations are longer as severe. That inner feeling of dread no longer happens to such a high degree. I seem to be able to remain calmer whenever contemplating or discussing the things that once made me feel extremely uncomfortable.

Actually going through with these things remains a different story for now.Am I ready to step onto a coach and make a long journey? Probably not - but the fact that I am able to contemplate it without feeling such high levels of anxiety and inner sense of panic, is for me, a major breakthrough.

I believe the IBS audio program 100 is a good choice for anyone who suffers from IBS. It's like having your own personal hypnotherapist on-demand for as long as it takes to get the job done, but without the discomfort of having to travel to a hypnotherapy practice, or the ongoing expense.
